1. Sourcecamp 2010 dates announced

Once a year, the Sourcefabric community comes together in one place to share experiences, plan future developments and discuss implementations. This year, from the 18th to the 24th of October, Sourcefabric will host its yearly event in Berlin.

Rooted in the days of the "Center for Advanced Media - Prague" (CAMP) and stretching back as far as 2001, these yearly gatherings were always called SummerCAMP. This year following the launch of our new organisation, our working title is "Sourcecamp" - if you've a better name, please let us know! The winner gets a full Sourcefabric survival package with stickers, t-shirt and booksprint manuals!

Sourcecamp 2010's agenda is not yet defined. We hope to shape it in the coming weeks and want to include as much constructive input as possible from our community and beyond. Whether you are a developer, power user or fan, feel free to get in touch! Anyone is welcome to attend some or all of Sourcecamp. As always, Sourcefabric provides the seminar room and in two evenings of food and drink. Participants are asked to cover travel and accommodation themselves, but we'll gladly help with with advice and recommendations.

2. Campsite 3.4 released

Campsite, the free, open source, multilingual content management system for news websites has been released in version 3.4 and features over fifty bug fixes and improvements. Building upon the stability and security improvements in June's 3.3.6 release, this latest version includes dramatically improved search options (both internally and for external search engines), a clean up of the graphical interface (new-look icons and admin interface) and easier installation. Micz Flor, one of Sourcefabric's founding partners, spoke about the release on the official site:

"With this release, Campsite can be installed on almost any hosting service. It now supports installations in sub folders and the internal cron scheduler and time zone management make it independent from hosting restrictions. To round this up: backup and restore can be managed through the admin interface. These improvements make our enterprise publishing software available even to low-cost web hosting."

3. Campcaster Manual work begins

Work has begun on improving the documentation for the recent Campcaster 1.4 beta4 release. Campcaster is our open source software for radio stations. Many redundant chapters have been deleted, installation information is being updated and the team is working hard to migrate a host of useful fixes, 'how-to's and guides from our old developer's wiki.

We'd love you to get involved. If you spot a mistake in the manual, or read something that isn't clear, please create an account for yourself on flossmanuals.net and post a comment on the talk page for the relevant chapter. If you feel confident that you can fix the text yourself, please go ahead and edit the page - all edits are checked by the manual maintainer before publication.

For more information email us at contact@sourcefabric.org.

4. Sourcefabric on Wikipedia

Sourcefabric, Campsite and Campcaster now have up-to-date presences on Wikipedia. We've been also working hard to update our product information all over the web - if you see something out-of-date, please let us know!
