The start of December saw Minsk in Belarus win the Sourcefabric community contest for most extreme weather, with Poland not far behind as temperatures slipped way below zero. Most of us were left more than envious of the balmy weather enjoyed by our Latin America representatives over in Guatemala. In this fortnight’s newsletter...
New Year Rumours to Come True?
Eagle-eyed community members will have spotted that there’s a lot of activity focusing on January 2011 in the Sourcefabric community. The forums are buzzing, the tweet rumours have started and speculation is flying around. The only thing we can confirm at this moment is that something very big is written in the skies for the Sourcefabric new year. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? You’ll just have to wait and see...
Localizations Underway in 21 Languages
A localization drive in the recent months has seen a stunning effort by the Sourcefabric community, meaning we now have Campsite localizations started in 21 languages, with many over 90% complete (including Spanish, Polish, Greek, Serbo-Croatian and Russian).
Localization is the process of translating a product into different languages or adapting a product for a specific country or region. Multilinguality is at the heart of all of Sourcefabric’s media products, and translation is just one way you can contribute to our mission of providing tools for quality journalism regardless of resources or location. Developer Snapshot
The Campsite developer team are working around the clock on the 3.5 release candidate, which is available on 17th December, with the general availability release appearing in January. Lots of work being done here on improving the installation process, speed and features that have always set us out from the crowd like our multi-author management.
Campcaster 1.6 is getting a lot of attention at the moment too, from radio stations and developers alike. We’re continuing to roll out minor beta updates for 1.4.x until Christmas and after this, 1.6 will be scheduling and automating news, features and jingles on a radio station near you sometime in January.
