Newscoop helps media organisations make better websites. If you want to get started but don't want to install it yourself (you need a server and some programming knowledge), then Sourcefabric can help out with design, installation, hosting, upgrades, and security. Check out Newscoop Pro.
For those of you that want to self-host, we recommend our automated install below.
Newscoop installation is supported on Ubuntu Linux 12.04 (Precise), Debian GNU/Linux 7.0 (Wheezy), and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 (Santiago). A tarball is provided for other GNU/Linux distributions which can provide the necessary dependencies (GPL v3).
Once set up, a Newscoop installation can be accessed by anyone via almost any web browser (we recommend Chrome or Firefox).
If you do not already have a database set up for Newscoop, please follow these instructions.
Newscoop Pro is the range of services we offer that help to make your Newscoop site even better. From web design to hosting, technical support to feature development, our global team of experts takes care of things so you can concentrate on making great content. Come and talk to us about your news project.
Upgrading is supported from version 3.5.0 and above. To upgrade from a lower version, you must first install Newscoop 3.5.x. Then follow these upgrade instructions. Newscoop 3 templates should be upgraded to Newscoop 4 themes.
Thanks for installing Newscoop, we welcome your feedback!
